The Lok Sabha Elections-2024 will be conducted in a peaceful and fearless manner. District Election Officer Jaspreet Singh shared this information during the meeting held to brief the General, Expenditure and Police Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India over preparedness of the elections for the Bathinda Lok Sabha Constituency. While expressing their satisfaction on the overall election activities of the nine Assembly constituencies under the Lok Sabha Bathinda constituency, Observer (General) S. Prabhakar (IAS), Observer (Police) B. Shankar Jaiswal (IPS), Observer (Expenditure) Akhilesh Kumar Yadav (IRS) and Observer (Expenditure) Nandini R. Nair (IRS) hoped that all the officials involved in the election process will render their services further to complete the entire election process smoothly.
On the behalf of the civil and police administration, Jaspreet Singh, District Election Officer emphasized that all the instructions of the Election Commission are being followed and no stone will be left unturned to conduct the elections in transparent and fair manner. He further shared detailed information about the work being done in the district, advance preparations, randomization, strong rooms, EVM and VVPAT machines, polling stations, and deployment of polling and counting staff etc.
Jaspreet Singh, DEO, Bathinda also added that there are nine assembly constituencies under Bathinda Lok Sabha Constituency, including 83-Lambi, 91-Bhucho Mandi (SC), 92-Bathinda (Urban), 93-Bathinda (Rural) (SC), 94 -Talwandi Sabo, 95-Maur, 96-Mansa, 97-Sardulgarh and 98-Budhlada (SC). He further added that there are total 1814 polling stations for Lok Sabha constituency Bathinda.
Apart from this, the number of voters is 1659129. Among them, there are 877720 male voters, 781375 female voters, while 34 are transgender voters. This time 39306 new young voters in the age group of 18-19 years have been registered.
He further added that in view of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, 234 numbers of complaints related to elections have been received so far in the district, out of which 229 complaints have been resolved., while pending 5 are under process.
He also mentioned that the resident of the district can file a complaint regarding the violation of the election process by downloading the c-vigil application from the Google Play Store and this complaint will be processed as soon as possible. Apart from this, complaint can also be filed through WhatsApp No. 70093-07977, Email dccbti2024@gmail.com, Toll Free No. 1800-180-2950, National Government Services Portal (NGSP) Service.india.gov.in, manually at the District Control Center established at Room No. 235-E on the first floor of the Election Commission or may be contacted at 1950.
In the meeting, SSP Bathinda Deepak Pareek, SSP Mansa Dr. Nanak Singh, SSP Shri Muktsar Sahib Bhagirath Meena shared information about state and inter-state checkpoints apart from the work being done by the police administration to maintain law and order. They also mentioned that regular flag marches are being conducted in vulnerable areas, a due vigilance is being kept on antisocial elements.
Meanwhile, Nodal Officer MCC and MCMC Rahul briefed about the activities done so far under different committees.
On this occasion, representatives of various political parties were also present and expressed their satisfaction on the services rendered by the election staff in view of the Lok Sabha elections. Harpreet Singh Sudan, RO-cum-Deputy Commissioner Muktsar Sahib, RO-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mansa Paramveer Singh, Additional District Election Officer Latif Ahmed, AROs related to various constituencies, officers of expenditure teams, Nodal officers of various committees appointed in view of the elections and representatives of political parties etc. were also present.
