802977.90 MT of wheat purchased by different agencies
1692.80 crore rupees has been paid to the farmers
Bathinda, May 4: Deputy Commissioner S. Jaspreet Singh said that till May 4, 2024, 802977.90 MT of wheat has been purchased by various agencies in the markets of the district. He also said that till May 4, 2024, payment of Rs. 1692.80 crore has been made to the farmers, which is 103.21 percent.
Deputy Commissioner S. Jaspreet Singh said that peak lifting of 31000 MT last year, the district saw a peak lifting of 47500 MT and daily 42000 MT on an average is being lifted.He said that 24304 mt of wheat was lifted on May 3 last year, while 43312 mt of wheat was lifted on May 3 this year, which is 178 percentage more than last year. Similarly, 33243 mt of wheat was lifted on May 4 last year, while 41332 mt of wheat was lifted on May 4 this year, which is 125 percentage more than last year. Deputy Commissioner S. Jaspreet Singh said that the purchased wheat includes 260050.75 MT from Pangrain, 200600 MT from Markfed, 181871 MT from Punsup, 135996.15 MT from warehouse and 24460 MT from private traders.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the purchase of farmers’ wheat crop is being done on time by various procurement agencies and the work of harvesting and weighing of the purchased wheat is also going on smoothly in the markets. He said that the payment of the crop sold by the farmers is also being made on time.
He also appealed to the farmers not to set fire to the grain of wheat but to mix it in the ground and use it as fertilizer. Burning of wheat straw has adverse effects on human health only where the environment is polluted.
