The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reached out to the Jharkhand government, requesting heightened security measures for the interrogation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren in connection with a land fraud case. This request from the investigative agency comes amid concerns about potential disruptions to law and order during Soren’s questioning.
ED officials are slated to visit Soren’s official residence in Ranchi at around 1 pm to gather his statement regarding a money laundering case associated with the aforementioned land fraud investigation.
According to the investigative agency:
Soren will undergo questioning as part of an inquiry into a “significant racket involving illegal transfer of land ownership by criminal syndicates” in Jharkhand.

Sources reveal that prior to the Enforcement Directorate’s interrogation, Hemant Soren sought blessings from his father and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader, Shibu Soren.
Hemant had previously notified the central agency of his availability for questioning on Wednesday.
In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, authorities have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144.
Additionally, a three-member team has been established to monitor the city’s law and order situation. Police officials have disclosed the deployment of over 7,000 police personnel, with particular attention directed towards “strategic locations.”
According to sources, a team from the investigative agency has departed for the Chief Minister’s official residence.

Lawmakers from the ruling JMM-led coalition, including the Congress and the RJD, signed a letter of support on Tuesday evening without individual names listed. This occurred amidst speculation regarding the potential assumption of leadership by Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, in the event of her husband’s arrest.
Despite not holding legislative office herself, Kalpana Soren participated in Tuesday’s meetings with the lawmakers.
Putting an end to speculation about his location, Soren appeared in Ranchi on Tuesday, waving to the media as he entered his residence. Subsequently, he convened a meeting with MLAs from the JMM-led alliance to deliberate on the prevailing political situation in the state. When questioned about his whereabouts, Soren responded, “I reside in your hearts.”
