15 Members of Banned PFI Sentenced to Death for Kerala BJP Leader’s Murder

On Tuesday, the Mavelikkara Additional District Session Court-I delivered a death sentence to 15 individuals implicated in the 2021 murder of BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivasan. The court will announce the specific punishment at a later date. All 15 defendants have ties to the formerly outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI). Ranjith Sreenivasan, the state secretary of BJP OBC Morcha, was brutally assaulted and murdered in his residence on December 19, 2021, in the presence of his family.

On January 20, the court established that among the 15 individuals charged in the case, eight (referred to as accused 1-8) were directly implicated in the crime. Additionally, four others (referred to as accused 9-12) were found culpable for murder because, armed with lethal weapons, they were present at the scene alongside those directly involved. Furthermore, three defendants, identified as conspirators, were convicted of both criminal conspiracy and murder. The court validated murder charges against all 15 accused individuals.
