MRS-PTU 8th Foundation Day Celebrations concluded

“We will make Punjab the number one state of the country in education”: Harjot Singh Bains

Punjab Cabinet Minister, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Higher Education and School Education, Shri Harjot Singh Bains said that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann is working dedicatedly to make Punjab a leading state in the country in the field of education and enhancing the budgetary allocation for both the sectors in the coming budget.

While speaking on the concluding day Celebration of 8th Foundation Day of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Shri Bains said that Punjab Government is according top priority to Education and Health sectors in the state and it will surely revolutionize both sectors thereby providing much-needed relief to the common masses.

                The Minister promised to bring revolutionary changes in the field of education, including beautification of school buildings as well as planning for improving the quality of education. He held a detailed meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu, Giani Zail Singh School of Architecture and Planning department head, Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot and senior Faculty to chalk out a road map for revamping the Government School infrastructure in the state. The MRS-PTU architecture department will prepare a road map for proposed new school buildings, improving the existing school buildings infrastructure with an aim for future requirements and optimum utilisation of available setup.

                The Minister said the government is striving to fulfil promise of providing quality education to the people of Punjab. First of all, we have started the work of making the school buildings splendid and in this task the expertise of Architecture departments of the state universities will be utilized and adequately rewarded.

Shri Bains urged the teachers and students to help the government in restoring the pristine glory of Punjab to make it Rangla Punjab for bringing back the Golden era like the rule of World’s great king Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

                While speaking on the occasion, MRS-PTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu  said the foundation day is the day to remember and pay tribute to the legendary king Maharaja Ranjit Singh on whose name the university is named. “Seven year short journey of fastest growing MRS-PTU has been commendable. It’s a moment of pride for me to lead the university, which has an excellent faculty and hardworking students. I seek support from all stakeholders for taking the university to new heights,” he added while briefing about the achievements and future plans of the university.

                On this occasion, the Minister and dignitaries unveiled the portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh made by prominent artist Sh. Hardarshan Singh Sohal, while MRS-PTU, Dean Research and Development and Director IQAC, Dr. Ashish Baldi and Dr. Munish Kumar, Department of Computational Sciences were honoured for featuring among Top 2 percent Scientists across the World in the list of Stanford University, USA. The Minister also facilitated innovative start-ups and entrepreneurs, philanthropist   Baba Subegh Singh, who is organising Langar for the needy in the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bathinda since its inceptions. The Minister also awarded management of winner colleges in different fields Desh Bhagat Foundation Group of Institutions, Moga (Best Admission), Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda (Best Placements and results) and Guru Gobind Singh College of Management and Technology, Giddarbaha (Best Results).

                MRS-PTU, Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar complimented the university faculty and staff for organising the function with great success and presented a vote of thanks.

                Earlier, MRS-PTU, Bathinda’s three day long 8th Foundation Day celebrations concluded at Multipurpose Hall on Sunday with the Bhog of Shri Akhand Path. Hazoori Ragi from Darbar Sahib performed kirtan, which left the audience at the Multipurpose Hall mesmerized.

                Key speaker, renowned Writer, Actor and Director Sh. Sudarshan Maini threw light on the life and philosophy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. While giving references of Sikh history, he said the philosophy and teachings of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is most relevant and can be a guiding force for today’s Punjab to restore its rich glory.

                Academicians, scholars, eminent personalities, Chairman and Directors of affiliated colleges and Constituent Colleges/PIT’s and students participated in these celebrations and had ‘Guru Ka Langar’ (Community Kitchen) together arranged by the University. The vibrant and sprawling campus gave a festive look with beautifully decorated state of the art aesthetic buildings of the university and students in colourful attire.

                Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare under the guidance of Director, Prof. Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot and a team of senior faculty worked hard for the success of the programme. Deans, Directors, Faculty and Staff of the university attended the concluded ceremony.
