Along with the corona virus , cases of Omicron variant have also seen a rapid increase in Kerala . On Wednesday, 76 new cases of Omicron variant have been reported in the state. With this, the total number of Omicron patients in the state has reached 421. With the first case of Omicron coming to the fore on December 7 in the state, the maximum number of cases have been reported in the state on Wednesday.
Of the 421 cases, 290 had come from low-risk countries. While 85 high-risk countries and 43 cases were reported locally. State Health Minister Veena George said a private nursing college in Pathanamthitta has become a cluster of Omicron. Many students here have been found corona infected.
The state health minister said, ‘The students have recently been infected by a person who came from abroad and after that all have been quarantined. The situation in Pathanamthitta is alarming. We have taken all measures to contain the spread. Omicron’s cases increased at a time when the state is battling a high caseload of coronavirus.
