SCHEDULED CASTE DEBTORS WILL GET RELIEF OF RS. 41.48 CRORE

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on the occasion of Independence Day had announced to waive the debt of all the borrowers up to Rs 50000. Sharing this information the Chairman, Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation, Mr Mohanlal Sood said that this will bring a great relief to the borrowers and fulfill a long pending demand of the public.
Mr. Sood said that he had requested to the Chief Minister that just as the Punjab government had given relief to the farmers in the state by waiving their debts, the debts of the poor people of Scheduled Castes should also be waived off. He added that the Chief Minister had sympathetically considered the demand and directed the concerned authorities to take action.
Mr. Sood further said that the Punjab government was always working for the welfare of the poor Scheduled Castes of the state and under this series the Punjab Government had already waived the debt of the borrowers up to Rs. 50,000 from the Corporation. As many as 14,260 debtors were given a huge relief of Rs 45.41 crore. He said that now a huge relief has been given to the Scheduled Caste debtors by waiving the debts of Rs. 86.89 crore during its current tenure.
He said that the Punjab Government had not only provided relief to the poor people of Scheduled Castes through debt waiver but also under the flagship program of Punjab Government to provide door to door employment to the poor beneficiaries of Scheduled Castes.
He said that during the current financial year the corporation was celebrating the 50th anniversary of its establishment as Golden Jubilee year and during this historic year, the target of disbursement of loans under the main direct loan scheme of the corporation has been increased from Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 10 crore. In this regard special awareness camps have been organized in various cities of Punjab and loan approval letters are being distributed to the borrowers.
